Emory Andrew Tate III (born December 1, 1986) is a controversial figure known for his views on masculinity. He is a businessman and former kickboxer from the US and UK. His statements have led to social media bans and accusations of misogyny. Despite this, he has 9.9 million followers on X and was the third most Googled person in 2023. Often called the “king of toxic masculinity,” he has labelled himself a misogynist. Politically, he’s seen as right-wing or far-right. As of August 2024, he faces five legal probes—three criminal and two civil—in Romania and the UK. Tate started kickboxing in England in 2005, winning titles until the early 2010s. He appeared on Big Brother in 2016 but was removed due to a rape investigation, later dropped. However, he faced extradition for rape charges in 2024. After kickboxing, he and his brother launched a webcam business and online courses. His extreme views on masculinity brought him fame. Notably, Hustler’s University, with 100,000 subscribers, was later rebranded as The Real World. He also leads a group called The War Room, which faced serious misconduct accusations from the BBC. In August 2023, his ventures were making about $5 million a month. In December 2022, Tate, his brother, and two women were arrested in Romania. By June 2023, they faced charges of rape, human trafficking, and forming a crime group. After a campaign of online harassment in July, two accusers went into hiding. The Tate brothers then sued one for defamation. In March 2024, British police sought an arrest warrant related to their ongoing investigation. By July, they faced a civil case for tax evasion. In August, Romanian police raided Tate’s properties and broadened their investigation. Tate and his brother deny all allegations.
