Born in Chicago on December 27, 1958, Emory Andrew Tate Jr. emerged as a notable American chess player, earning the International Master title. The father of Internet personality Andrew Tate, grew up in a large family of nine children. His parents, attorney Emory Andrew Tate I and businesswoman Emma Cox Tate, instilled a strong work ethic. Tate II discovered chess early, honing his skills throughout childhood. His linguistic talents flourished during his service as a sergeant in the United States Air Force. A summer exchange program in Mexico in 1975 further developed his Spanish proficiency. Tate’s diverse interests and abilities shaped his remarkable life until his passing on October 17, 2015.
